A woman was forced out of her marital home by her in-laws after they were dissatisfied with the dowry. When the police failed to take action despite her complaint, she turned to the court. Following the court’s order, a case was filed against her husband and five others.
This incident took place in Nayyabas village in Hapur district, where Harita got married to Sandeep Yadav from Ghaziabad four years ago. Harita’s family spent over 35 lakh rupees on the wedding, but her in-laws were not satisfied and demanded a Fortuner car. Despite the hefty dowry, they continued to harass her. On March 23, 2023, they physically assaulted her and threw her out of the house.
Harita had filed complaints with the local police and the police superintendent, but no action was taken. Left with no option, she approached the court, which ordered the registration of a case against her husband and five others under various sections of the law. The investigation is currently underway.
